Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
The team we play in the semifinals has a formation I haven't seen before. I was hoping maybe somebody had an idea how to adjust to it. It looks loike this:
They have a wide split between tackle and guard and fairly tight between gaurd and center. They run sweep with qb, power and iso and option all to the strong side. They put the wing to the other side and will run zone read. Any ideas would really help. I have some ideas but as always a little discussion helps to find out if your on the right track.
Slant my nose and backside end strong, strong end into b-gap, send my strong Bat right at the wing back and push him into the backfield...have my mike read fb...he fills B on the inside shoulder of the end unless the end gets washed then he has to scrape over the top and fill the window...
if they bring the wing to the other side i would just flip it...
gap control and backside stays home...that's just off the top of my head...
My nose is a weak shade of center. Weak End inside eye of tackle. Strong End outside eye of guard. Sam outside eye of tackle. Will head up of wing and Mike in strong A. Mike goes where fb goes. wb releases out D takes him if he releases vertical Free takes him.

nevermind...you've got it covered...as long as your backers could flow weak fast enough and get there in time if they decide to run weak that's good...you will definately stop everything to the strong side of the formation...
This is aweful weak on a backside counter to both the wing and tailback.....
Anytime I see 2 backs in the backfield I stay in a base alignement. Most teams want you to take people from the box. To me this formation looks like a Hybrid-I formation, somewhat like a pistol look. I would play it just as I would play any I team.

Hokie i hear what you are saying, and have some of the same concerns but to me, it is all a matter of what your linebackers are reading and how fast they can flow...
I would still tell my guys to read guard to fullback, to me this is just I-Formation. In the secondary, we would play Cover 3/lock.
Somestimes we try to make more of something than it really is.
Well we played them and lost 8 - 6. But we shut down their power I. They started running strong then hit us with weak option and gained 10 yards, so we moved will back over to the weak side and left the d-line the same and shut them down. They went to a spread wishbone after we fumbled inside our 20 and scored on power then power on the pat. My strong bat got sealed in both times. We rushed for 390 yards but had 4 fumbles (1 on their 1 yard line) and an interception in the endzone at the end of the game. Wasone of those games where you dominate but don't score. Defense really shut them down. I was very sceptical about the 33 but after all the help I received here and the kids getting into it I really liked it. Still have a lot to learn. Just so many things you do out of it.
