Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are playing a team in the second round that is very good out of the Odd Stack. Of course they have two animals at NG and Mike. They like to slant their inside 3 quite a bit, usually to your strength, and blitz the weak stack backer in B gap or the Mike in either A-Gap from time to time. We are a Pro - I team and plan to do a lot of end over formations, as this put them in a kind of 3-4 look ( shift to the twins side). We also plan on getting in Double Tite-Double Flanker with a FB and running some veer and trap, as well as attacking the seams through the air.
I guess I am looking for some general ideas on how to attack the D, while keeping our scheme in mind.
On your end over, align the backs in a POWER I AND LIKE BILL SAYS HAMMER THE DICKENS OUT OF THEM OFF THE TACKLES. I'm taking for granted that you go to the line in double tites and SHIFT to end over, allow the mandatory one second for the line to set and on a single command of "GO!" fire out behind the unbalanced line. If you want to come out in an unbalanced formation to start with, just move your backside tackle to the call side, DON'T WAIT FOR THE DEFENSE TO ADJUST, GO ON A QUICK COUNT AND RUN THE BALL BETWEEN THE TACKLES! BY VIRTUE OF HAVING A "POWER I" YOU HAVE ONE OF THE BACKS CLOSER TO THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE TO BE THE LEAD BLOCKER, THEN SEND THE OTHER BACK THROUGH THE SAME HOLE TO BLOCK THE FIRST WRONG COLORED JERSEY AND THEN HERE COMES THE BALL CARRIER! IT IS NOT A DOUBLE TEAM BLOCK, BUT TWO BACKS BLOCKING TWO DEFENDERS TO BLAST THE HOLE OPEN FOR THE RB. THE TWIN TACKLES TURN THEIR MEN OUT. THE FIRST BACK THROUGH WILL GENERALLY TAKE ON A SCRAPING LB AND THE OTHER WILL TAKE ON WHOEVER FILLS BEHIND HIM. NO FANCY BLOCKING SCHEME, JUST STRAIGHT AHEAD DRIVE BLOCKING FOR THE MOST PART, MAKING NEEDED ADJUSTMENTS AS THE GAME PROGRESSES. Just a suggestion as always.

It may be better to bring you OT over and leave the TE on the short-side. Otherwise, they can bring both CBs on your X and Z and leave the $ in the box. Just a suggestion of course.
You run the inside and outside veer in your base offense?
Are they a cover 3 team? If so...
Line up in double tight ace as you mentioned and run inside and outside veer either using no pitch man or using a WR as a pitch man (motion him or go on the snap). You have no strength to slant to. If you want to give them a strength to make the slant predictable, line up in double tight trips.
ISV
C and BSG combo nose (again, use formation to help you get this done if necessary)
PSG down on MLB
PST inside to stack LB
TE - either down on stack LB, FS, or out to OLB, depending on personal preference and defensive personnel, alignment, and responsibility
BST and BSTE scoop
I love this blocking scheme to eliminate the good nose and MLB you mentioned.
OSV
Once that DT is pinching, have the PSOT block him down, PSTE to stack backer, and read the outside LB... usually a give and you are off to the races.
If they are a cover 3 team and you aren't comfortable motioning WRs in as pitch men, line up in the trips look... have #1 run off and stalk the CB while #2 runs a bubble route. If the OLB is coming down to take QB on ISV and OSV, throw the bubble. If the CB is not respecting #1's run off, hit it deep.
Be sure to mix in some 2 man options away from trips if you use that formation.
I just coached against Georgia Military this past week. What hurt THEIR 3-5-3 was when we went double tight with 1 or 2 backs and traded the tight end. See how they adjust and take it from there!
