I would like some input on the following problem:
The Run + Shoot Offense usually faces problems when being confronted with a Cover 2 Man. Knowing that the flat zones might be a suitable point of attack against such defense, what do you think might be good plays to run without risking to become too predictable?
What do you mean by Cover 2 man? Man outside + 2 deep? Or Man (best receiver) Rover + 2 Deep? Or is it something else. It's difficult to picture your scenario with this little information. Are you a R & S with a TE or four wides? With this little information I would try the following:
With no TE: 1) Motion single back into trips (wide side) throw shortside seam. 2) Motion single back into quads (wide side) throw bubble screen. 3) Jump motion inside slot behind qb (assuming gun) and run triple option weakside. 4) Zip motion inside slot across formation (outside TE alignment) and jump him into pitch relation and run triple option strong side. 5) Run double twins (middle of the field), combo routes outside (deep corner, mid seam route; both sides) forcing corners to sit on seam, and safetys to the deep outside, and send the back, through the line, up the middle vacated by the safetys. About a 15 yard curl or skinny post. This times out to be a 5 step deep corner.
With a TE: 1) Motion slot away from TE throw TE dump. 2) Align trips left, flex TE to force defender to man up, any routes that take advantage of match up. 3) Tight Bunch formation away from TE, Flood TE side shallow and mid, sneak TE across field on shallow drag.
