I am looking for a good source on the 4-2-5. We have ran something similar with a 4-4 and played a 2 robber behind with our free, but the teams we now face are more prone to be in a 3x1 or 5 wide look. Any help would be great.
I have run the 4-2-5 for 20 years, literally. The best way to defend any of the formations you may see from it is to roll up and play hard man with inside leverage straight across the board, walking a LB out on # 3 trips side who does his best to out physical the receiver. As I have posted many times on this forum,
play bump and run(not turn and run) and do your best not to let the receiver have free access into the pattern by playing off, if it is loose man or not, you cannot successfuly jam a receive if you are not rolled up hard on him!
