Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I watched one of my former players D2 game a couple of weeks back and there offensive line was running inside and outside zone with 6 inch splits. They had no trouble cutting of backside one tech in an over front and had no problem getting the corner on stretch. When they came out I thought they would trip all over each other but not the case. This was Slippery Rock University, I have already emailed there o-line coach but was wondering if anyone has ever done this or seen this before. Thanks again.
I know that Coach McNally, OL Coach for the Buffalo Bills and Larry Zierlein, OL Coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers teach 1.5 foot splits, unless there is a man in the gap or a man on their inside shoulder. Their rule regarding a gapped defender is, "If there is a man in the gap, there is no gap!" In addition, "If there is a man in an i (2i, 4i), the gap must die! The rule indicates that the split must go foot to foot to eliminate this scenario. This is common for any team that runs inside/outside zone.
Newguy, are you a Pennsylvania guy? Let me know. I am an ESU graduate.

18" is what MOST prefer. Can cut to 12" or as wide as 24" - BUT - 18" seems to be the best! JUST AS IMPORTANT = get them back OFF the ball as far as legal!
PS: My only problem with "foot to foot" (& I've heard both Alex Gibbs & Joe Bugel say this) is that they sometimes tend to step on each other's feet!
I will have to research this more and try and find out why they were so tight.
It was interesting to watch because with the sort splits they just seemed to maul the other team they were playing.

I live in the Binghamton area in New York. I played at Alfred State and Mansfield University, but ended up graduating from SUNY Binghamton. I have great respect for your program down there at Lackawanna. They always put together a very physical team that is absolutely huge and well coached.
Hey Coach, we played Alfred State and beat them 84-20 this year. We played them at Hornell High School. Our first 23 points of the game were on special teams and since I am the special teams coordinator, I was quite happy!
I am currently going for my masters in Library and Information Technology at Mansfield University... I am doing it online. They just started sprint football... I believe that once this woman president is gone, they will bring football back.
I dated a girl in college that went to SUNY-Binghamton so I know the campus well. I go to Binghamton often. At what school are you? In the past I interviewed at Susquehanna Valley and Johnson City. My friend, Dick Russ, coached at Chenango Forks up until 1996 when Kelsey took over. Dick then went to Maine-Endwell and built the team up to a sectional champion--then he retires and they win the state title! One of our OT's played at Binghamton High School. Every year I attend at clinic in Wilkes-Barre hosted by Buffalo Bills' OL Coach Jim McNally and last year there were two Binghamton assistants down with us. I know Terry Raymond at Deposit very well as I know Kelsey pretty well. I go the Oakdale Mall from time to time as well.
We ended up 7-3 this year at Lackawanna... our QB got hurt for the Erie/Nassau game and we lost both. Our backup QB was not ready to play and we did not have a dominant enough running game at that time to overcome this. We lost to Georgia Military (35-13) in our last game of the year down in Georgia. That was an experience!

I am at Harpursville High School. This is my second year there and first as the DC we had a tough year and ended up going 3-6 we lost 2 games in overtime and 2 by a touchdown or less. We play in the same league as Terry Raymond's Deposit team they were very good this year probably the second best team in NY State class D football but they ran in to a buzz called the Walton Warriors in our section final. Who I think will win the state championship friday. Kelsey Green is an amazing coach and even better person. I hope his Forks team wins the state championship as well. Terry is also a great guy that always puts out physical football teams. Rumor around this area is that both Kelsey and Terry will retire from coaching this year leaving two opening in and around the binghamton area. I don't know Dick Russ but looking at his records at ME and Forks he must have been a great coach.
About Alfred State I know we used to have to play over at Wellsville which was always a mess. Alfred State is getting a New turf field and pressbox. I was out there a couple of weeks ago and it looked great. Coach Caba told me about the game and said he never seen anything like it. I am sure your kids played great.
As far as Mansfield goes and there football Program it is what it is. I didn't get a long with the Head Coach, he was a good guy who thought things needed to be done his way. I will leave it at that. The schools admin. tried to run a football program on a baseball budget and that won't work when you have to play teams lile ESU, WCU, and Bloom. The PSAC as whole screws it self by limiting scholarships the so called "IUP" rule I think they only give 18. If they gave the 36 that D2 allots they could be as good as the D2 conferences like the GLIAC. PA high school football is great and if they could keep PA kids in state it would help the conference as a whole.
I am sorry I mis typed. and I don't want to falsify my idenity. We have too much of that on these message boards as it is. I graduated from SUNY CORTLAND. Don't know how I messed that up. LOL
By the way whatever happened to Tyler McMeans played OT for you in 01 and 02 went to miami but never really heard anything after that???
Tyler tried out with the Bears' in 2006, then played for Barcelona in NFL Europe, then tried out with the Bears this year and got cut. He works for a sheriff's office somewhere. Tyler is very close with our head coach, Mark Duda.
I thought about going up to the state games in New York at the dome, but the weather is going to be too bad. Kelsey is done after this year and is actually CONSIDERING serving as an assistant to Dave Chicknosky. How about that? He doesn't want to be the HC anymore and wants to be an assistant and is completely serious. I was with him in June. I know where Harpursville is. Out of college, I was offered a job at Laurens High School, but did not accept it due to the fact that I would have had too many preps.
Mick told us about Alfred State's new facility. We'll be there in two years. I liked Hornell... we were exceptionally fast on the astroturf. The night before we played Alfred our receivers coach, video coordinator, and I went to a local bar in Hornell and we had a blast!
I met five assistant coaches from Cortland at the Bills' Training Camp this summer... great guys! They are really trying to do something there. They lost to Brockport early on (my friend Ben is the DL coach at Brockport), but they are getting there! They beat Montclair and Rowan, who are two teams that we scrimmaged.
Ray, Email me at CellaFBall@aol.com. There's something I want to give you.

Newguy - you are to be commended! I don't understand why someone would not want to tell those he communicates with what his real name is. There is something terribly wrong with THAT! I ran a lot of that on the "HUEY" site! SMELLS "FISHY"! Guess they just don't have any self-pride.
That would be something if after all those years as an assistant Chick becomes the head guy down there with Kelsey as the assistant. Forks is sorta of a defensive dynasty and nobody around here runs the 5-2 like they do at the Forks. Your friend that is the DL coach at brockport wouldn't happen to be Ben Bullock from Endwell??? I think he stopped by to talk to some of our kids or is stopping by some time.
I didn't play ball at Cortland due to some compliance issues but I know some of there assistants and they are good guys. Cortland is one of the most Ideall settings in my opinion to coach at you have tons of admin. support (well at least what I have seen). Great Facilities I mean there stadium could rival most 1aa's in the northeast. They have an outstanding PE and Teacher Ed program, and they have a good Criminology program both of these are majors that Athletes like( teacher or cop). They are Centrally located in state or New York and Can pull kids from Buffalo to Long Island. I know they are usually a playoff team but I am sure its only time before they make some noise at the National Level.
Hornell is a good time. People are layed back and its a great high school sports town. They also have alot of shall we say establishments.
