Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We play our QB at 3.5 yds and our back at 6 to 7 depending on speed. Foot work is like you are undercenter when you are running the football. And like you are in the gun when you are throwing it.

Newguy agree our footwork for the QB minics the same footwork as under the center and we will add a hop, skip for the ride into the L.O.S. Coach Campbell
We are using a step of the midline and kick back for zone. One thing I picked up in Conversation with James Vint is when you run zone read out of the pistol have the back look for cutback first and if its not there then look to bang it frontside. For some reason DE's are less likely to chase out of the pistol, don't know why but it opens up the cutback. What do you tell your RB on zone read??
I am thinking of working with this offense next season.
The more I research, the more I am loving the concepts. I have seen that some teams do a QB spin, adding some false key ball movement in the game, similar to the wing-T.
We spent this weekend looking at what we need to do to make our offense more effective this year. We went to the gun option 2 years ago and we have been pretty succesful with it, but we really came up with it by combining things that we thought were good plays from under center option, Pro-I, Wing -T etc. and adapting them to the gun. While I do think we have some really great plays, one of the things we decided we need to do is get it down to more of a system rather than a bunch of good plays. For example if you are a straight flexbone team, there are some things that the defense can do that take away some of your plays and there are some tried and true adjustments you can do to take advantage of those things. In hindsight we were in some games where the defense took things away and we just tried a differnt play rather than having a specific adjustment. I guess the point of this long winded speech is that combining a bunch of offense is a good idea, just make sure you have your adjustments in your mind ahead of time.
Coach thanks very much for your thoughts, we are really looking into each phase of what we are trying to do so we are not hung out to dry. If we go for it hopefully we will have it down so we don't back ourselves into a corner. Thanks again, your always a great help.
