We're a mainly 4-4 team, but move in and out of 3,4,and 5 man fronts. We haven't used a lot of 3 man fronts and we're looking for some help with it for defending the spread. What kinds of reads and responsibilities do the front 3 have? What are the LBs reading? I know WVU runs this type of defense and was thinking of contacting them. Are there any other coaches or programs that would be good to contact to get more help?

We have just in the past two years implemented the 3-5-3 at our school. We also used to be a 4-4 school. If you are looking for a start as far as quick and "easy" reads you may want to look at Thomas Cousins' website coachcousins.com for a beginning. I listened to him at a conference a while back and he has a lot of good things that we implemented and/or tweeked to fit what we were wanting to do. We (as a lot of other schools) began with the Georgia Millitary videos as a starting point and we actually use a lot of their terminology as far as position names. You could also look at Air Force Academy for an indepth look at what they do with the 3-5. Check these out and if there is anything I can do for you just let me know.
