Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Why do most coaches have the RB align on the right side of the QB in standard gun formations?
Would it not be best to have him on the left (usually the backside for most QBs) to ensure that the RB can cover the QBs blindside when hes staying in to protect?
Because you have another defender to contend with on the strong side. IN MOST CONVENTIONAL PASSING FORMATIONS WITH A TE, MOST ALWAYS SEND THE FB ("I" FORMATION) TO THE STRONG SIDE AND THE TB TO THE WEAKSIDE TO OUT PROTECT. HOWEVER, KNOWING THE FB IS MOST USUALLY THE BETTER BLOCKER I WOULD SEND MY FB TO THE BACKSIDE FOR THE REASON YOU MENTION. GOOD THINKING.

We flip-flop our offensive line all the time, therefore we don't have to worry about which side our back aligns on. This has really helped in the long run.
