We are a 4 wide/5 wide team with no TE. One of our opponent's utilizes a 3-4 scheme with 3 base defenses off of it. Here is what it looks like.....
...............F...................................SS............
...................................................................
....C.......................B.......B.........................C
..................W............................S.................
.........................E.......N.......E.......................
....O...................O..O..X..O..O.....................O
..............O.................O................O..............
....................................................................
.................................O................................
1st Defense:
- They will bring the Will LB off the edge, slant the weak DE and NG strong, creating a 4 man front.
- soft cover 2 behind it with the weak side ILB dropping hook/curl.
2nd Defense:
-All 4 LB's walk up to the LOS, covering up every blocker. Cover zero blitz with usually one of the LB's dropping off for RB. (they mix it up).
-DB's in soft man technique behind.
3rd Defense:
- Sam LB walks up with SS creeping up behind. Sam blitzes. Strong DE long sticks into A gap. Strong side ILB loop blitzes the B gap.
- NG slants weak.
- SS has curl/flat
- Weak ILB has middle apex zone.
- Will has curl/flat
- FS rolls to deep middle
- Corners bail to deep 1/3.
So, they play a 3-4, but in reality it is always either....
1. 4 man front with cover 2 behind
2. Cover 0
3. 5 man zone blitz (3 under 3 deep zone)
You can see how mixing it up with these three defenses causes some problems for a 5-6 man protection. How would you guys pass block this? Slide pro? BOB? A combination of the two?
Thanks in advance
