Coaches,
A few years ago there was a school in Arizona that used one back formations with three wr's. Occasionally they would line the slot wr or a second back as a wing to the TE side or the open side. From there they ran multiple options to the wing and away with the wing trailing. Has anyone used this before? What are the benefits/negatives?
I also remember Notre Dame used this in the mid 90's under Holtz occasionaly.
I am a big time option guy. When we have wings in our system we will use them to rap around inside during midline option style plays. We also will use the wing to block an outside linebacker that is getting away from our Tightend if we run a veer option style play. If the corner is being aggressive then a playaction will be next in line.
