I REALLY ADMIRE YOUR WANTING TO WORK HARD TO HAVE A TEAM. SUGGESTION: INSTEAD OF TRYING TO MAKE YOUR OWN,, GO AROUND ALL THE SCHOOLS YOU CAN FIND, HIGH SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, ETC. AND ASK IF THEY PLAN ON GETTING RID OF ANY OF THEIR STUFF. YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW MANY ARE WILLING TO HELP YOU OUT. NFL TEAMS, IF YOU ARE CLOSE TO ANY, ARE GREAT ABOIUT IT.

Great advice, Coach. There are tons of schools who have an old sled or shutes pushed back into the edge of their property. Usually they are usable--just need a little TLC. Buying pads for a sled is much cheeper than buying a whole new shed. If you can't get a hold of any sleds, you can do much of the work with a bunch of blocking dummies--not quite as efficient, but you can get it done.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
We actually did pretty good with the poorman's chute. We used it to teach some coming up out of the stance for o-line and breaking down for tackling... I keep looking for different ways to teach football 101 if you will with the resources we have. Thanks for the advice coaches.
