Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are implementing a zone running game this year and I have a question about pass protection out of faking an outside zone/ stretch running play. We want to use the Indianapolis Colt Sprint Back play action off our stretch game. We want our two WR's to free release on their routes and have a checkdown with our TB. We want the rest (5OL & TE, H-Back) to pass protect on the play. I've seen systems where they just have everyone run their tracks and sell the run hard. I've also seen where the frontside runs their tracks and the backside uses a turnback system. I want to get an idea about which system that some of you coaches use or have seen teams use. We want 7 protecting, (8 with the TB check releasing) with the idea of having time so we can get the ball down the field.
2nd Question: Any ideas on route combinations with the two wr's off our stretch play action. I like the scissors route and the post/dig trying to isolate the Free safety. Any combinations you guys like?
Justin - phone me (804-378-0116) about a play action series off the zones!
On OZ PASS - Use Outside Zone BLOCKING to make it look the same. Uncovereds can't go downfield, of course.
This is if QB comes BACK off fake (if going outside like a boot - that is different). After fake - RB slips into flat (IF no #4 coming off edge). BS/X runs a dig & PS/Z runs a post. "Over/Under" off F/S!
AVAIL YOURSELF OF BILL'S OFFER TO CALL HIM. HE IS THE GURU OF EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IN THE ZONE READ! I ASSURE YOU, YOU WILL GET ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW FROM THIS COACH!
