Middle School Interview Questions

I think that most young coaches make a very serious mistake when listing criteria as listed above and omit the most important one of all, HOW DO YOU PLAN TO CONTEND WITH PLAYER PARENTS???

Parents in this day and time wield more power with administrations than ever before, and very sad to say if they be right or wrong on an issue, the powers that be are going to placate them more often than not!!!

If you are successful in getting a head coaching job on either the junior or senior high level, you had better have a VERY SOLID PLAN on handling this facet of your job. Do not be naiieve enough to think that you won't have to deal with it, because you will. Your success in coaching in the public or private school systems revolves very much around how you ARE PERCEIVED BY THE PARENTS OF YOUR PLAYERS!!!

You can be 10-0 for the year, but be perceived in not being a coach who is teaching their sons the right things to become young men, as well as, good football players you will not last long. On the opposite end of the scale you can be 0 for the century and are well perceived by the parents as instilling good things in their kids, you can stay for as long as you like!!! Now that is not always true in the big high school programs, as they attach more importance to winning than to breathing in some instances, but for the average high school thoughout the country, it is true. GET A PLAN AND LIVE BY IT. Just a suggestion as always.
