Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
There is a guy in Northern California that is expoiting the loophole in the HS rules to put 11 eligible receivers on the field at one time since his QB is at 7 yards in the shotgun (scrimmage kick formation). So all 11 (10 without QB) could be eligible depending on who shifts to the line. All guys are numbered 1-49,80-99. The number restriction on a scrimmage kick formation was lifted due to teams wanting to put more athletic kids on the field to run down and cover a punt, but this is a base offense being run all game.
Sounds like a bunch of baloney to me. AS ALL players have to be set in the PSL prior to the snap, how does them all being in elgible numbers do anything but make it impossible to enforce the rules? If a player wearing an inelgible number lines up at an elgible position, he must report to the white hat prior to the play. They would have to change A LOT OF RULES TO IMPLEMENT THIS SCHEME IN MY OINION. Maybe he should move across the border to Canada where they allow almost everyone to be in motion at the same time. As you know, I run a wide open 3 x 2 spread and have my QB at 7-8 yds for 20 plus years now. For a QB to read 5 is a lot of work, let alone the whole team. Thanks for filling me in Bill, but to me it is a bunch of hog wash.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but no matter what, the C can never be eligible, and I believe that any player on either side of the C is considered ineligible as well--basically neither guard can be eligible either. At any rate, as coach Easton said, the "eligible" recievers are defined as to thier positioning, no matter where the QB stands.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
THANKS FOR THE LINK COACH BILL ATLAS. TALK ABOUT A FAD OFFENSE! IT MAKES A BIT MORE SENSE KNOWING THAT ALL 11 PLAYERS ARE NOT REALLY ELGIBLE BUT ARE DEFINED BY THEIR ALIGNMENT. OH WELL... ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

I have come across a few "muddle huddle" formations. Only used on extra pt or fg situations though. they have the snapper(usually a te) holder and kicker all eligable in the middle of the field. then the line and all other backs/recievers over to one side of the field. a key to this is the holder if his knee is down andthe ball is snapped, once he catches it the play has to be blown dead (an issue we ran into with the ref)
Forget all this baloney and devote your time to coaching SOUND PRINCIPLES of Football, not wasting valuable staff and player time. Just a suggestion as always.

Ditto. Football is football and it should be played a certain way. I enjoy an "old school battle" Some coaches do try to come up with certain things to get an advantage vs just playing football. We as coaches all have to adjust to what is out there. Same as in life.
