Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Bill, Jerry, Ted or any other coach having coached on the semi-pro level,
Jerry, I know that you favor the 3x2 passing attack, and Bill, the power running game, and have coached on the high school, collegiate and semi-pro/pro levels so I am wondering what the field dimensions, in particular, the hashmarks, have played in your development of offensive and defensive strategies? What adjustments have you had to make, if any?
As the hashmarks are only 18' 6" in the middle of the field and in high school and college much wider, does the style of attack, or defense for that matter, change for the running attack and passing attack toward the wide side of the field? Toward the short side?
Would the Jet/Fly running series be effective on the pro aligned field as well as unbalanced attacks similar to Arkansas/Florida in the past two years?
I thank you for all your insights to this great game that the both of you have shared with me and others through this site and via telephone conversations.
Jerry, can't wait for the book to be published. Looking forward to getting it as soon as it is released.
I never coached SEMI-PRO. My team was a professional minor league team as they were paid to play.
At any rate, as I spread the opponent horizontally from side line to side line on many occasion, the hashes really never figure all that much in my philosophy of the 3 x 2. The main reason being my spread philosophy deals with the passing game almost exclusively and not the running game where they would of course, be much more important to any OC. My QB is always moving LATERALLY AND CREATING HIS OWN PASSING AND RUNNING LANES. The one aspect the hashes do help determine for us is what side to set our trips to. Example: If the ball is say on the right hash, I would call the trips side to the liz side as I do not want to bunch them all up on the rip side most usually. We do have some patterns where this does become an advantage and I would not call the formation to the field side.
Book is being reformatted as the publisher asked for some changes and has given me until June 1, 2008 to complete them. I hope to have them finished well before that. I will keep you posted. Sincere thanks for your interest.

We used the same PRINCIPLES on all levels. WR's splits varied from 6 yds up to 15 yds (from TE). That was a key - according to width of field, as well as route called.
