I have coached the defensive ends in a 52 for a few years and we have gone to a 3-5. Just wondering how some of you coach your players on the dog/spur keys. We use the Georgia Military 3-5.
When the dog sees a TE block down and he attacks, how far does he come up? To the L.O.S. or something else? What is his landmarks? Just wondering what you tell the dogs so they dont come up field to much and they run under the dog.
2. I do not like what some people say about wrong arming for the dogs. (I know this is why some people do it) but it seems that wrong arming would cause the back to bounce and make it harder play for the linebacker to make. What are the benefits to wrong arming the FB or guard?
3. If anyone has any powerpoints or tips for coaching the dogs that they would send me. I would really appreciate looking at it.
