Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coaches,
Just watched the Florida Spring game on TV. Several times in the game they ran counter (BSG & FB/TE pulling). They had a good amount of success running the play. My question is, out of the gun with the center blocking back, would you base the BST on the 5 tech, combo the 2/3 tech to the ILB or would you pull check to the B gap.
Glaze if it is the play I think it is you would block it the same as a counter trey. Seal the inside and the tackle kicks out the end and the Fb lead up into the hole. It would be similar to Coach Mountjoys power that he wrote an article about. Take care.
I think I'd agree with Mervin...pull both the BSG and BST...but if you are not going to pull both, I think I tell the BST to power step to play side with the goal to get through to second level. If the 5 technique crosses your face, you go through him to the second level. If the 5 tech steps upfield or outside to check the QB--he's taken care of. Don't play with a man who's not in the play.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
Glaze if you can get the information from Coach Mountjoy on the power game, he really does a great job of explaining how to run the blocking for this play. He wrote an article about it in the April/May edition of Gridiron Stategies. Hope this helps.
