why does the NCAA allow multiple players to wear the same # where the NFL is different?
also all NFL teams now have players names on the back where some NCAA teams still don't. why is this?
AN EDUCATED GUESS would be that a college team can carry as many players as they want and duplicating numbers become necessary. But, if you will notice, only one of the same number is on the field at any one time.
The NFL went to designated offensive position numbers, defense still can wear what they want, a long time ago. NFL rosters only hold 53 players and most travel with 48, so duplication of number's is not an issue.

As far as player names on the back. I know Notre Dame does not do it because they want to be known as a team and not a individual player. It is the colleges decision.
