Any of you guys run any plays where center pulls? My C will be one of my better linemen....just trying to scheme a little to get him moving......thanks guys
In my opinion, I always want my center to be a top notch blocker and lots of times he is the very best blocker I have! I designed a play a long time ago where the center steps to a backside 3 tech as he delivers the ball to the QB from up under, another one where he takes a bucket step after the snap to cut off any backside pursuit. He is also a key member of a hybrid slide pass blocking scheme I have used for more than 20 years now. But, in the most commmonly used term PULL, not really.

We had a center a couple of years ago who was a stud. We had tried to pull him on some counter type plays and on an outside toss play because our Right Guard was not great a mover. The blocking worked well, but we had issues with the QB/C exchange. I think if you're in the gun, it will work very well. We worked under center and our QB would have had to change his footwork quite a bit, so we decided to scrap it, since we were successful with only pulling G's and T's. I have seen very little of it at the High School level, so if you could pull it off (please excuse the pun), I think you can really get into a defense's head so to speak.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
We have pulled the Center to lead up on the backer in the power game.
If he's more athletic then the BSG it works well also, if we're having problems with backside run-throughs we'll also do it.
We have pulled the center on our reverses and that has worked very well. If he is a good athlete you could probably pull him and have him kick out the DE on the power play and still lead with the FB.
