Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
What's the best way for a high school LB to play a cut-off or reach block? I talked with some guys who teach posting with the frontside hand ripping the backside arm and shoulder. I recently talked with a college coach who teaches slapping the lineman's wrist with the frontside hand and then ripping. Any thoughts or suggestions on what is best for H.S. LB's? I don't have monsters at LB, but they can move.
What Tiger One suggests is sound and especially good for plays between the tackles. What you are describing is good for fast flow (outside) plays, IMO. IF YOU NEED TO, strike a blow to the blockers elbow with your playside palm, then rip with backside arm across him. Make sure to bring backside foot with backside arm and get your backside foot down past the playside foot of the blocker. Getting that foot across is the key teaching point, IMO.

What TIGER ONE and CAVEMAN have explained to you is perfect. You can even run this during individual practice session. I call this HAT, HANDS and RIP. Just have the OL and LB line up 5 yds apart as if they are in a regular game alignment. On your count have the OL attack the LB. LB should make contact with helmet first (preferably), then swat or bat in with the outside hand and finish with a rip. Things to focus on are: Make sure the LB is shooting the hips that he take the proper footing to minimize being caught up by the LB. Ideally great if you do this drill to both sides of the LB
