Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Where do you align your spurs if #1 a WR and #2 a te or back. Our spurs can move around but their base alignment rule vs. the above formations are on the los 1/2 between #1 and emlos. We feel that this alignment helps us vs. the Run.
After talking to many different coaches on this subject we have decided to line them up 6x6 on the EMOL unless we are faced with twins then 6 yards off and split the diff. between #2 and the EMOL. I hope this helps.
May, I would back him up....When he is tight to the line, he will create leverage problems for himself....U want the offense to have a hard time decideing if he is a Pass Rusher of Dropper......:gift;
I align my spurs (Bandit and Rover) 4 x 4 from EMOL vs. a Pro Formation. If I want to cover up the TE, I make a "Shiloh" call, which places the SAM in a loose 9 tech. Versus a TE-Wing Formation, I will walk my Bandit (strongside spur) down and leverage the Wingback. I try to keep my spurs in a position to avoid blocks instead of take them on. They also have the freedom to move around in their area of play, just like my stack backers do, but we start off teaching it at 4 x 4 from the EMOL.
Versus a detached #2, the spur can align either head up #2 or at the apex between #2 and EMOL. This is nothing more than giving the offense a different look, because we can run all our coverages and/or blitzes by spurs from either head up or apexed. Head up makes them think it might be man, while apexing him gives the presnap look of zone. I also blitz my spurs from both alignments, so the offense doesnt get a tendency on us.
Versus a Trips, the spur will apex the #2 and #3 receivers, and we ask him to get a piece of one of them. I hope this helps and you if you have more questions, please feel free to contact me.
