Always block through a tackler Blind men never will be good blockers Contact, then lift. Ducking the head causes blindness. Feet must carry the shoulders through and beyond the opponent. Good blockers never block the ground. High men usually are licked. Inside position must be secured to block an opponent out. Join shoulders for a tandem block. Kick out when contact is established, don't lean. Low men usually win. Mickey Mouse blocks are no good; few tacklers over a blocker on the ground. Not many backs need to be led across the goal line. One timely downfield block may be beter than 100 others. Players never miss blocks intentenially; blocks are missed because one or more blocking principles are not executed. Quickness is more important than weight. Run for position for a block if you don't have it. Spectators never block anything but the aisles. Targets in football move. Under, then up.
These where terms used to explain blocking back in 1946.
