Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Does anyone at the youth level run a version of Jerry Campbell's pistol offense? I would love to hear if anyone has had success with it and see any info on it. Thanks!
We had one team a couple of years ago that ran the Pistol at our oldest age level (10-12). Although they were successful with it, in that, they did advance to the division championship game, my opinion was that they did not really have a good understanding of the offense. They also did not run any option game out of it as I recall.
Although I certainly think a youth level team could run this offense, I just haven't been able to really figure out a way that we would benefit substantially as an offense by running it yet. I have studied both Coach Campbell's installation manual, as well as, some other materials on the Pistol, mainly just out of curiosity about the offense at this point. For now, I'm planning on sticking to our I/Gun based offense.
Anyone else have any experience with it at the youth level?

I witnessed a team run a variation of the Pistol offense this year. I say variation because the backfield was in a wishbone setting. It seems to work very well for the team as they are in the playoffs and have a good season running the offense.

We will be going with the pistol in a big way next season and I'm looking forward to putting it in. I do not want to completely get away from under center however, and am working on what portion to leave in.
Anyone else given the pistol a go at the youth level yet?

The integration of the Pistol into our offense didn't occur until the last half of the 2008 season. After evaluating the season offensive statistics, 17 plays - 7 TD's, the Pistol enabled us to continue to create confusion and conflict in our opponents defenses. In the off season we are researching additional Pistol information.
Nice video coach and congratulations on the terrific season. Looks like a good group of kids. Looks like you had a very good athlete at QB, as well as, several kids who could catch the ball as well.

Thanks Coach,
Yes we do have an Athletic and very experienced QB. It's hard to believe that an 11 year old can already have 50 games and 3 championships under his belt! And he and #25 return to the same team next year! Should be fun, for us!
Hopefully I will be able to come up with some decent video to share this season as we put the Pistol into action coach! My video parent from last season was hit and miss. Hoping for better results this year.

Unfortunately, we didn't get any decent video from last year coach, even though we will be installing the pistol for the first time this season anyway. Our version will combine elements of Coach Campbell's offense and that of Steve Rampy, the Head Coach at Blue Valley High School in Kansas. I'm on schedule to have our playbook finished by the end of the month and would be happy to send you what we're looking at doing to compare with your offense coach. Just send me a private message with your e-mail address or post here on the thread and I'll get it to you as soon as I finish it up.
I would also love to see what your team has been doing with the pistol, coach, either on video or anything in print.
Thanks,
