Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
If you have a school that only has Varsity FB and you have QB that played only 20-30 plays their freshman year, how much of the offense can you expect for them to be able to run effectively. Also can a QB like the one I stated earlier be expected to be able to have more than two true reads on a pass play, the third and fourth maybe optimistic hopes?
Never five QBs, RBs, TEs, WRs, on the field every play, OFFENSIVE LINEMAN RULE.
If you coaching him correctly, this summer is prime time for that, he should be able to run pretty much of your offense. What is your offense, Coach? A lot depends on him of course, and his personal attributes.
Does he have a great work ethic, is he football smart? Does he really like to practice in the summer to get ready for this fall?

FORGOT TO ADRESS YOUR QUESTION ABOUT READING BY YOUR QB:
Here again, depends upon your passing attack. The days of teaching one specific way of reading all pass plays is pretty much passed and we now teach individual reading procedures for different patterns. Of course, the basic elements, reading from top to bottom, inside out-outside in depending upon the pattern, etc. stay the same pretty much. But, on the high school level with a brand new QB, teach him to make man cover reads and how to break down the zone coverages in order to find the void, have a primary receiver and a secondary receiver and an outlet receiver and hope for the best.

We are running a one-back double TE set and vary into a true double-double but we run out of it. Your last post hit the nail on the head two reads and a outlet. he coverages that we see are pretty vanilla and he has decent football sense but lacks playing experience big time.
Never five QBs, RBs, TEs, WRs, on the field every play, OFFENSIVE LINEMAN RULE.
Just a suggestion as always: Have your DB's this summer give him every look he will see this fall and throw against them all summer long. After 42 years on the field as a QB COACH/OC/HC I am totally convinced there is absolutely nothing to replace reps!!!

Coach Dan if you have a system in which to install your offense then your QB has a method by which to learn. Keep it simple and put your best competitor at the QB spot if you are installing the option game. Coach Campbell
