DEFENDING FLEXBONE

OLB: 2 yds outs. Slot & 2 yds. deep. If Slot arcs you - take pitch. If Slot loads inside - crash to QB.

DE: 5 technique (inside shoe in crotch of OT): If OT blocks down - crash off his butt to dive (B gap). If OT bases you - take QB (C gap).

ILB: 30 technique - inside shoe in crotch of OG (or 40I - outside shoe in crotch of OT) - 4 yds deep: If OT blocks inside - X around DE & take QB (C gap). IF OT bases DE - step up & play dive (B gap).

DT's: 1 techniques (outside shoe in crotch of OG( - take Dive (A gap - out).

Corners = M/M on #1 (Cover 1)

F/S (Cover 1 - no deeper than 8 yds)- if slot motions for pitch relationship - slide over & key slot to the side motion is coming. If he arcs OLB - YOU take QB. If he loads inside - take QB. NOTE: If Slot (#2) goes vertical - play him M/M.

NOTE: You CAN simplify this by just telling OLB to take the pitch regardless, & F/S to take the QB regardless (helping EITHER the DE or OLB - depending on the OT's block) - BUT - we like it as described above.
