Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coaches after breaking down many different fronts and blitz combos it seems the c- gap is really the only weaknes I can come up with I need some help. With out having to get out of the 30 stack . PLEASE give me some ideas!
What we had some success with vs this, was to pull our Stud (Spur) down over the TE to keep him down from downblocking on the PSLB. It also allowed us to be able to spill the play a bit to allow the Mike to be able to flow and scrape to the edge. It's not 100% perfect, but we had luck with this.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
Thanks for the different thoughts. JR. I like your answer it almost sounds like a 4-3 over look with the exception for the spur on the backside. I might line up in this in sititutions in wich the offense likes the c gap strong Jam the Te. with the spur and bring the strong ILB in the c gap and slant the tackle to B gap. Or even bring the St. Ilb B gap and slant to c gap with the tackle while still jamming the te with the spur. Thanks JR. I welcome any other ideas from anybody else.

We run what we call a "storm" blitz. When we think they are going to run power off tackle, we send the backer into the "C" gap and bring the spur off of the same edge. We spin the FS down into the hook to flat right over the top of the TE and the backside spur into the FS spot. That puts 5 defenders near the "C" gap. We call it "Tight Storm 3 spin".
Union I love it do you slant your line weak in order to have the weakside Tackle replace the spur as force and contain, while the spur covers for the free? Or do you pinch your tackles and have you weakside Ilb. have c gap contain. Thanks again for all your input.
We don't usually make calls for our defensive lineman. They really have one rule, slant away from your nearest blitz. So the answer is, yes, the entire defensive line slants away from the TE in a "Tight Storm 3 spin". The weak side DE would have C gap contain away from the blitz. We are a little vulnerable if they run weak. That's why more often than not we actually run "Field Storm 3 spin". So if they do run away from the Storm, we have the boundary to help. Just like anything else, you can't live in it but it will force the offense away from running off tackle. As you can imagine, that blitz destroys any strong side run play. Sweep, power, counter, dive, option, you name it.
Great stuff UNION thanks for the info. I'm sure I'll have more questions later. Like how to line up and play against a power I team? Thanks for the info.
