VS DBL FORMATION HOW DO U HAVE YOUR OLB'S, CORNERS, ANS F/S COVER THIS ROUTE COMBO. IF THE WR #1 PUSHES UP FOR 8 YDS THEN BEREAKS TO THE POST AND THE SLOT #2 PUSHES UP FOR 5 THEN WHEELS OUT AND UP, HOW DO U EXPECT YOUR CORNER TO SEE THE # 2? DO U HAVE YOUR OLB RUN WITH THE WHEEL ANS CORNER SQUEEZE THE POST? THANKS
Is this the way they run it in 7 on 7? I've seen this combination with the number 2 running a speed out, and turning it up.....If the offense has time for the slot receiver to push vertical...drive out...and turn up, it's not your coverage it's your pressure......:rose;
We teach zone with the threat concept so the DB's and Lbs. must know where there first and second threats are if one dissapears snap your head to your nummber 2 threat and so on. The spur has all wheel routs. Qb boots Ilb to his side will pull chain. In the past we have had boot rules as soon as we heard boot our Db's would lock up man on their nearest threat.
I agree wholeheartedly with Coast Union 33. Corners and safeties have to be able to pass players off, and, most importantly, the Spur/OLB needs to know to turn and run with #2 when he goes upfield. Same idea as running vs. 4 verts--you have to respect that deep play and run with it. Let the Stacked LB's clean up underneath.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
