Coaches,
I just got off of the phone with a couple of recruiters. I'm trying to sell some of our kids to them, but to no avail. I started wondering about something. We are located in SoCal, and are a DIV I team that consistantly makes the postseason. BUT our kids don't get a fair shake (my opinion). There is plenty of recruiting going on around us. But, from what I've seen first-hand, some of our kids are superior. About every 3-5 years we go to the semi-finals. We have played in the finals three times (13-1 & 12-2 both years ranked top 25 in the country; USA TODAY) - winning once (14-0 ranked 2nd in the country; USA TODAY - we won 56-3, #1 won their game 12-10 in the last 6 seconds!!) I wasn't here then, but the rings are HUUUUUGE!!!!
Back to the question........Does anyone think that recruiters favor schools (or coaches) that run their system or a system like it?
(Obviously all colleges will look at the kids that put up monster numbers, and the kids that are awesome physical specimens.)
...connecting the dots....Freshman and JV coaches prepare kids to compete at the Varsity level.......Varsity coaches play their best in order to win.....Playing your best means the best put up stats.........Stats hit the college recruiters' hot buttons........ergo - Varsity staffs that want to do what's best for their players should install a system run by one of the local colleges???........
I'm starting to get the uneasy feeling that kids don't get enough of a look because they didn't play in a system run by any of the surrounding colleges. Just a thought. Would like any of your feedback.
Thanks in advance.
