Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Since most of us defensive guys make our calls based on tendencies, what is your approach when facing an opponent in the season opener who has several new coaches and is running a new scheme? Do you look at opponents who run the same offense and use their tendencies? Need some advice.
I think you can look to other offenses/teams and look at what works for them. If you know where this coach came from, try to find some of the things that team did, if possible. Other than that, make sure that your kids are fundamentally sound, and play your game. If it is their first game, they are going to have some questions to work though as well. I'd suggest to go right at them and force the issue.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
STICK WITH WHAT YOU DO BEST, (YOUR BASE) AND MAKE THE NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS AS THE GAME PROGRESSES. To do anything else is to totally confuse your guys who have worked diligently to master your base by having them prepare for a single game by making major changes. Scouting them at a jamboree or intersquad scrimmage is always a good idea, but if they know you are there they won't show you much if they are smart. You can, however pick up good information on individual players, base kickoff, punt, etc. formations used and gives you a good chance to see how their QB operates under real game conditions.
