Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I have some big slow giants that seem to not want to cut. On the backside of wide zone (gibbs) my big guys have trouble with quicker lineman at times. Especially my tackles when the guard is in combo with the center and there is a 4 or 4i slanting across his face. We don't cut in practice, so I have two questions:
How do I teach and encourage him to cut?
Should he be cutting?
IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE A GUY, THEN CUTTING IS YOUR ONLY ALTERNATIVE. I ENCOURAGE IT ONLY IN THAT SITUATION AS IT IS A GOOD WAY OF INJURING A KID FOR LIFE. BUT, SOME NIGHTS YOU HAVE NO CHOICE. YOU HAVE TO BE QUICK TO CUT CORRECTLY AND YOUR KIDS ARE BIG AND SLOW ACCORDING TO WHAT YOU SAY AND PROBABLY HAVEN'T MASTERED THE TECNIQUE TO WHERE THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH CUTTING. REP THE FIRE OUT OF CUTTING DRILLS COACH AND MAKE THEM COMFORTABLE IN DOING IT. Just a suggestion as always.

Coach maybe you could get them used to cutting by using the tall bags and having fun with the drills you use, we have the same problem so we try to make them more comfortable. You might try narrowing their stances if they cannot move. Oneback is a good resource for you as well.
1. A large bag two holes over. Lineman pulls about 3 steps & turns up & cuts the big bag.
2. In scrimmages - take the same steps, but they WRAP UP the defender (as opposed to cutting him) as if it was a form tackle without going to the ground.;
