Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I have come across a coach who plays his Strong side end in a 2pt stance, head up on the TE. 1st thing that came to my mind was, leverage. Does he lose it by being it the 2pt stance? This coach is very successful with his scheme and also has put in a 30stack package with the 4-2-5. In the 30stack the strong side end becomes the middle backer(doesn't need to learn stance and is a free player in the scheme) He is a more athletic "end" vs their weakside end as well. The weakside they want a bit bigger and stronger. With many of the coaches on here running the 4-2-5, just curious on your thoughts and opinions with this. Thanks in advance.
JUST MY OPINION BUT HAVING RUN THE 4-2-5 FOR OVER 20 YEARS, STANDING UP AN END IS JUST ASKING FOR HIM TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE PLAY!!! HE IS JUST TO EASY TO BLOCK.

I have seen this too. I am not a fan of it but the advantage is he can (hopefully) play C-gap or D-gap (force/contain) depending on the call without tipping it off pre-snap. Like I said, I am not a fan but it can be sound.

Tiger One,
That's exactly what I had thought. You're asking/ creating more for your player to overcome than is needed. We want to put our players in the best position from the start and is the 2pt stance doing that. I'm sure it depends on the player in the position as well if it is successful more than not.
To the TE side in the scheme I am looking at, they play the end head up on the TE. Any end should be able to take on a TE and win each time. For the most part he has C gap and the Sam linebacker will scrape, then stack behind the DE and spy the Outiside S on a "flow to" play.
I do feel that you'd get more explosion from the DE on the snap of the ball if he is on a 3pt stance.
Thank you Caveman as well for the reply. It seems like a coaches choice for the most part.
strong side end definatly in a 3 point, I see cause for the Weak end to be in a two point sometimes because we drop him out alot when we zone pressure. Youll see USC stand their 5 techs on occasion for that reason.
