AM VERY INTERESTED IN KNOWING HOW MANY OF YOU KEEP A POWER/OPTION PACKAGE IN YOUR ARESNAL FOR SHORT YARDAGE AND GOAL LINE, YET RUN THE SPREAD AS YOUR BASE OFFENSE? LET ME HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE TIME.

We have used a "goal line" offense in the past in addition to our spread, but have gotten away from it the last couple of years. It surprised us, but the hardest thing for us to do was execute the snap down there on on the goal line. And this was with a 2nd team all state QB who set all of our schools passing records that year. We just couldn't simulate that true game speed in practice and he struggled with the snap all the time in games, so we went away from it and stuck with our spread. Another problem was for our O line, who play in a 2 point stance with three foot splits all the time, they just weren't very effective getting into 6 inch splits and rolling their heels up down there.
We are giving it a shot this year. We will be running spread and under center option. It won't change any of our blocking up front, just waiting to see if our Q can read fast enough from under center, first game tomorrow, so we'll see.
