I need some help defending the counter trey? Any ideas? The look is "I backs, with the fullback offset weak or strong. There is a flanker to the tight end side and and a split end to the other.

We have found that our DE's pinching has really shut down the counter. A good DE can run with the two pullers. But your DE might be moving out so we have found that the play side DE slanting into it helps too
Coach,
Attack it, if you're using the 3-5-3 you have athlete's that can use their speed and athletic ability to attack the offense and dictate the game to them. End's slant hard into "B" gap. your middle backer blitzes into weak A gap and nose into strong A. The weakside tackle will blockdown on your end. Your Backer and Dog to that side should read this block and fly up. Dog has outside leverage and the backer is more of a fill player. they attack the point of attack and make the play stuffing everything inside. The blitz by the middle backer also can break it up as he can get in the way of the pull and or make the tackle. If the weakside guard picks up the mlb blitz your weakside end is slanting hard and should be in a good football position to make a play.
we called "pinch" a lot when we was thinking the counter trey was coming.......pinch sent the DE's into the b-gap and the NG into the weakside a-gap. We also put our weakside spur in a wide 5 tech on the LOS
