Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
What are your guys adjustment when you get unbalanced sets. Here is one we saw recently. We got a big dose of midline and ISV with a few tosses mixed in. They veer call at the line.
We run a "shift to strength" that we call 42 GREEN WHEREBY WE REDUCE THE BACKSIDE 5 TO A 4, THE BACKSIDE 3 TO A 1, WE LEAVE THE FRONTSIDE AS IS IN A 3 AND A 7 AND MOVE THE SAM TO 2 YDS OFF THE LOS OVER THE TACKLE. WE BRING THE STRONG SIDE SAFETY TO THE LOS IN A 9. THE MIKE STAYS AT HOME. WE ROLL THE CB'S UP HARD WITH INSIDE LEVERAGE AND PLAY BUMP AND RUN.

I am sure what Coach Easton suggests is sound. I might just, for simplicity sake, either 1) play the OG as the center and the Y as the strong-side or 2) bring the CB over and leave everyone else alone so long as they understand that the backside TE is eligible and the second OT to the UB side is not.

They still only have 6 linemen. There usually is a big difference between the T and the W you have drawn here in terms of blocking. If they went to 7 linemen then we would make a double tight adjustment and the linemen in the middle would be used as the Center for alignment. In this case I would adjust my secondary. I would treat this as trips. If playing 3 deep I would bring my outside backer up on the LOS and train wreck the W with a shoulder and flipper keeping outside arm free. This is our base rule in 3 deep against any tight wing. I would bump the Inside Backers. In two deep I would bring over both our Will Backer and Free Safety. Our FS plays like an outside backer vs. 1 back sets in two deep. In two deep FS would aling on LOS and take on W with outside arm free.
