Please take a moment this weekend to think about all the youth football players with Hurricane IKE hitting. Katrina hit three years ago,Gustav such a short time ago , and all the kids lost their season and some lost everything. Ask your players to say a little prayer for the kids here. I know it will help.So many more children won't have a season not even a game.I will have my players and coaches say a prayer. We all have different beliefs, but we can still have a moment of silence for the little ones who won't be out there this weekend or this season.
Our prayers are with you and the little guys, rest assured of that. I happen to be an ordained minister first and a football coach second. My personal prayer is that God will give the kids understanding of the situation that life is not always a bowl of cherries, but rather one of ups and downs. Be their friend coach, listen to them when they voice their frustrations at the situation, and try your best to come up with a way to alleviate it that the weather conditions will permit if anything. Maybe something like a pizza party with home made pizza from the grocery store if the restaurants are all closed, along with a football movie (REMEMBER THE TITANS IS A GOOD ONE) anything to get their young minds to stay positive and not be discouraged. Best of luck coach.
