I posted a question last season about stopping a team the ran a 2x2 with the QB and HB in shotgun. This year they are presenting me with a different problem. I posted this at the end of my original question from last year, but I thought I would post it in this catergory as it seems to fit better. So here is is:
Well we are playing the same team again this year, and this time they are giving me a slightly different headache. They still run the Spread/Double twins/400/2x2 (or whatever else you want to call it) formation.
The biggest problem I see us having is that they spread their 2x2's way out towards the side line effectively taking 4 men out of the box area (2 C's and SS & WLB). Then they run Tre by pulling the backside guard and tackle and handing the ball off to the HB (play goes to oppisite side of HB). They will undercut you if you try to force it inside, or bounce it out if you try and wrong arm and bounce it out. I would like to bounce it outside, but with so many defenders gone wide, they just make a cutback once they get the edge and get a large gain. Plus I still have to worry about their passing game, and the QB keeping it and booting the oppisite direction from the HB. Here is a diagram if I have lost you.
WR.............................T G C G T...............................WR
......WR.............................................................WR
........................................QB HB
The playside tackle is looking to get up onto the LB'er on the run play, after he lures the DE up field for the kickout by the backside pulling guard.
I am looking to mostly run man to man with the FS over the top. We are a 4-3 base team, but I am thinking of using more of a 4-2-5 look with the MLB and SLB splitting the field to balance us out.

C......SS..............S............M..............W.............C
......................E......T......T.....E
Any comments would help. I did the best I could with the looks, so if you are not getting the full picture I can add more. Text
