ANOTHER SUNDAY HAS ROLLED AROUND, WITH A BUSY WORK WEEK NOW BEHIND YOU. TAKE THIS DAY THE GOOD LORD HAS PROVIDED TO PUT DOWN YOUR TASKS AT HAND AND JUST RELAX AND ENJOY THE DAY AS HE INTENDED FOR YOU. HERE IS A BIT OF SAGE ADVICE FOR YOU YOUNG COACHES; TREAT YOUR WIFE LIKE A THOROBRED AND SHE WON'T TURN INTO AN OLD NAG!!! IF MOMMA ISN'T HAPPY, THEN NOBODY IS HAPPY AND IF NOBODY IS HAPPY IT WON'T LAST VERY LONG.
WHY NOT TAKE HER TO CHURCH, THEN OUT FOR A NICE SUNDAY DINNER AT HER FAVORITE RESTAURANT SO SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO COOK TODAY? A LITTLE THOUGHTFULNESS ON YOUR PART FELLAH'S GOES ALONG WAY WITH THE WIFE!!!
HOPE THE NIGHT WAS A GOOD ONE FOR EACH OF YOU LAST NIGHT AND THAT EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T WIN YOUR TEAM SHOWED IMPROVEMENT. LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MADE OUT, IF YOU WILL.

We lost 36-23. They had not showed option of the spread, guess they saved it for us. It worked. We were not ready for it. Adjusted at the half and came back, but ran out of time. They are a larger school (3.5 times as many boys) so we will not get another shot at them in the play-offs. Silver lining, I guess, was that JV beat the same school (shut them out too). So maybe that bodes well for next couple years (if we are not all fired first of course).

We lost last week 40-13 against a spread team. We worked on the coverage all week, but on Friday night instead of reading our keys most of our guys were just staring at the QB and we got torched. We're a young team going through some serious growing pains, as well as some serious physical pain right now.
Our starting QB has an ankle injury that we aren't sure of the severity, our second QB/Starting FS has a sprained MCL and an injured AC joint and rotator cuff in his throwing arm, and our "emergency" qb/starting WR has an injury to his meniscus. We're a spread team getting ready to play the best team in our region who's philosophy is to blitz like crazy and challenge the line to protect and the QB to beat them. Any suggestions?
I don't think the injury to our starting QB is too serious but I've never been around a team with as many leg and ankle injuries as we have suffered this year. We have had 9 different guys miss time with leg injuries already this year, ranging from sprains to stress fractures to torn ligaments.
Up here in NJ Bogota suffered a tough lost. We went into the game feeling well prepared but walked off the field that night with a 24-0 lost and possibly the lost of our best player for the year. Got to go in this week and try to right the ship against one of our biggest rivalrie. Defensive backs are not coming up and being agressive on run and our ends are still hurting us off tackle. The offense was not clicking with the gun option after our first drive in which we drove the ball 45 yards and then fumbled on the 12ydl. But we got right back to work on monday and hopefully we can find away to win this week. Thanks for the advice a week ago .
SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE PHYSICAL BEATINGS YOU BOTH TOOK, AS WELL AS, THE LOSS. I, LIKE YOU, HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SO MANY ANKLE INJURIES AS IN THE LAST THREE YEARS OR SO! THIS "HIGH ANKLE SPRAIN" IS A NEW ONE ON ME, YET IT SEEMS TO BE THE MOST PREVELANT. TIME TO GO BACK TO WEARING HIGH TOP CLEATS!!!
MAKE THEM RETICENT CB'S START HITTING EVERY DAY IN PRACTICE!!! IF THEY DON'T WANT TO BE AGGRESSIVE, GIVE ANOTHER PLAYER A SHOT THAT DOES!!! THIS GAME IS NOT FOR WHIMPS!!!
YOUR BEING A SPREAD TEAM, SEEMS LIKE THEY SHOULD BE READY TO PLAY ANOTHER SPREAD SQUAD.
SEEING IT EVERY DAY IN PRACTICE IS A BIG PLUS. JUST KEEP WORKING COACHES, GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO THOSE KIND OF TEAMS. THANKS FOR YOUR UPDATES!!!

SUNDAY MORNING ONCE AGAIN, AND I CAN SMELL THE SMELL OF MOMMA FRYING CHICKEN FOR AFTER CHURCH DINNER. HOT BISCUITS, MASHED POTATOES AND GRAVY, CORN ON THE COB, SLICED TOMATOES AND ALL THE CHICKEN YOU CAN HANDLE. "A GALLON OF TEA TO WASH IT DOWN AND BICARBONANATED SODA BY THE POUND!" I THINK THAT IS HOW THE OLD RAY CHARLES SONG GOES.
THEN SHE BRINGS OUT THE PEACH COBBLER FOR DESSERT, TOPPED OFF WITH A BIG SCOOP OF HOME MADE ICE CREAM THAT WE CHURNED BY HAND. NOW THAT IS HOW US SOUTHERN FOLKS EAT. Y'ALL COME, HEAR?
JESUS SAID: I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIGHT. NO MAN COMETH UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME. TO KNOW JESUS IS TO KNOW WHAT REAL TRUTH IS. JESUS HIMSELF SAID; THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE AND HE WHOM THE TRUTH HAS MADE FREE, SHALL BE FREE INDEED!
MAYBE IT HAS BEEN A LITTLE WHILE SINCE YOU TALKED WITH THE LORD. TODAY WOULD BE A GREAT DAY TO CHANGE THAT. FORGET ALL THE "THE'S AND THE THOU'S" AND JUST TALK TO HIM FROM YOUR HEART. HE HIMSELF SAID THAT ANY MAN THAT COMETH UNTO HIM, IN NO WISE WILL HE CAST HIM OUT. HIS EAR IS ALWAYS OPEN TO YOUR DESIRES OF YOUR HEART IF YOU HAVE ACCEPTED HIM AS THE LORD AND SAVIOR OF YOUR LIFE. WHY NOT DO IT TODAY, HE IS JUST A SIMPLE PRAYER AWAY.

Hey Coach - we didn't fare too well - lost 41-7....but our offensive game plan was solid - we ran ISV on the 1st play, QB reads it right, 30 yard gain - but fumbles at the end of the play!! We got the ball back deep in our territory, and 3rd down we throw a pick 6. But we sustained some drives (had 4th and goal twice with no score!) and finally got on the board, down 20-7 at the half. They flat out wore us out in the 2nd half......but thanks alot for your input and your time!!
Rome wasn't built in a day, neither is a good offense. Glad to hear you started out well anyway! Just keep working, coach, and it will all come together for y'all. If I can help further, don't hesitate to ask.

We won 28-14. Some people are happy because the team we beat was ranked the #12 small school in the state. I am not. We were fortunate to win, IMO. They dropped several passes and we had a 100 yard int. return. It was a great play but we cannot count on that every week. We need to execute.
We play the #2 ranked team (for small schools) this week so we will see.
JV posted their second consecutive shutout so that is encouraging. It may be time to call someone up!

Thank you coach. We have a tough assignment this week. I charted 25+ formations that this team runs (50+ if you assume they mirror them). They have a dual threat QB who is a real player and the supporting cast is very good too. We will need to get after them, bring our feet and wrap up if we are going to win this one.

To emphasize what Jerry said, look at how the Giants disrupted Brady. He was never able to get into a rhythm and even though the Patriots were easily the better team on the field. Because of just the pressure the D-Line created on the Pats O-Line and Brady, the Giants were able to walk away the champs. Even if you get burned on a couple big plays, a few 20-30 yard gains are nothing if every play other than those his butt is on the ground or he is being forced to move and throw, taking him out of his comfort zone.

SEPTEMBER HAS BECOME OCTOBER ALREADY AND THE SEASON IS HALF GONE! FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE WINNING, KEEP IT GOING COACH!!! FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE WORKED SO HARD AND ARE NOT WINNING, DON'T START MAKING MAJOR CHANGES, ETC. JUST WORK EACH AND EVERY DAY TO GET BETTER AT WHAT YOUR DOING. THERE ARE MANY FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO A LOSING SEASON. TAKE CARE OF THE GLARING ONES ASAP, AND ADDRESS THE OTHERS AS TIME PERMITS AND IN THE OFF SEASON.
I HAVE FAITH IN EVERYONE OF YOU TO TURN THINGS AROUND AND MAKE THE LAST HALF OF THE SEASON A GOOD ONE!!!

We got smoked this week. It was tough. They had four special team/defensive TDs against us and another set up by a fumble deep in our own end. They also so picked off two passes at the goal line to deny us points (one was returned 100 yards for one of the aforementioned TDs).
Very disappointing as we had just cracked the top 20 in the state (for our size).
Much worse, we got word during the game that one of our players' family members had a medical emergency.
It had to be the worst day I have had as a coach so far, all things considered.
Hope everyone else had a better weekend.
