Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I would like your guys imput on the scheme you use to stop the off tackle running game or power. We run a base 43 but bring up the SS for a 44 look alot of the time. When defending the off tackle power I have always taught the DE to step with and jam the down block and rip inside the kickout, the outside backer should come over the top with the corner as outside force, and middle backer pursue ball insideout. We had trouble with all year and would like some insight from you guys. Any different ideas or better way to do what we are already trying to do would be greatly appreciated.
I have run a 4-2-5 for 20 years. Here is a adjustment we make out of it to stop off tackle bleeding. From our normal alignment, we bring our TIGER BACK (your OSLB) who normaly aligns at 3 yds off the LOS and 5 yds wide, and put him inside of our 7 tech and kick the 7 to a 9. See diagrams
THIS IS THE ADJUSTMENT: CHEAT THE FS OVER A LITTLE BIT TO COVER ANY ESCAPE FROM BACKSIDE
OR UNEXPECTED MISDIRECTION. MOVE THE SAM BACKER LATERALLY TO A 40 TECH. LEAVE THE MIKE IN THE MIDDLE. BRING THE TB INSIDE THE KICKED OUT 9 TO A 60 TECH. WE JUST CALL IT "42 EASTON SPECIAL"

DE Wrong shoulder kick out man! Spill play to OLB or S/S. PS/LB shuffles a step behind the ball. DT tie up both blockers in double team. Get F/S down quick in the box if TE blocks ("ROBBER" technique).
