Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
How does the man do it? He is 83 or 84 years old I think and he still in involved as much as he was the day he took over as HC forty-something years ago. It just amazes me, I'm watching the Penn St. at Purdue game and in the pregame they said Paterno might have to coach from the booth because he hurt his knee demonstrating an Onside Kick. An Onside Kick! How many 80-something people you know would even be able to move their limbs to perform such a thing. That's insane! Another game last season I remember was seeing Joe Paterno sprint across the field towards the tunnel for some reason or another.
Just thought I'd try and spark a discussion what do you guys think about all this. It amazes me just how long he has been able to coach in football and how well he is still able to do it.

My words exactly Jerry. It's amazing what he does. He is truly the picture of execution. He's ran pretty much the same Offense with minor tweaks here and there to keep up with modern playstyles and rules and still just can punish Defenses.

It makes me sick to my stomach when I hear coaches like Paterno referred to as "past their time". There's another one in my neck of the woods who's very similar. John Gagliardi is the head coach at St. John's University in MN. He's been there 40 + yrs...for crying out loud, the D III "Heisman" trophy is named after him! Eddie Robinson...there are many others. I hope I have the longevity in this game that they've shown!

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
I've heard talks that Oklahoma's Bob Stoops is being talked about as someone who could have longevity enough to rank high on the all-time Wins list with Bowden and Paterno because he is so young and so good at what he does.

He wrote a great "Coaching Manual" (in a 3 ring notebook) & published it (ABOUT 20 years ago). The "X's & O's" are slightly outdated - but it is a great Coaching Guide nonetheless!
Two of my former players played for him - Dwayne Downing, & Darren Perry (UPS All-American at PSU). I worked his football camp in the summer of 1984.
