Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We play a 44. They run the midline to the strong side and read the 3 tech. The guard inside relases and gets my sam LB lined up in a 20i. The tackle blocks out on my 7 tech end and their TE folds through the hole. The QB reads the Tackle, if he pulls back he will run around where the 3 tech was and follow the TE fold throught he hole.
I have anybody assigned to A gap taking Dive and everybody else on QB. They also run iso, power, toss, speed option, and counters. It works great when we stunt into the A gap and have the tackle take dive, but it has been tough for the sam to get to the dive in time when we play it straight.
Any advise how you would defend it. We are a 44 with 5, 2i, 3 and 7 tech on the line; ILB's in a 30 and a 20i, two OLB's splitting the difference, or 3x4, and cover 3 behind.
I have run the midline option since 1998. Play 2 2i techniques and you completely eliminate the midline--the dive threat is gone. I hope this helped you, Coach.

I'd agree with Coach Cella, if your biggest problem is the guard releasing, then cover the guard. You then force them to run things other than thier "bread and butter"...or at least something that doesn't cause you to pull your hair out.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
