Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I want to install the option game from the I formation. We've been a 1 back / 2 back spread team for many years, but now I have the kids in the program that are more suited for the option offense. I guess I am looking for resources that I can take advantage of so that I can install the offense.
Looking to run:
ISV
OSV
Midline
Iso
Lead
Trap
Counter
Any help would be much appreciated.

Find anything you can on the Nebraska offense from the 80's and 90's...not many teams did it better. Also, another wrinkle that you can find things on is trap option. It would be an easy install if you are already running trap and midline.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
Coach if you are truly interested in finding out all you can about the I veer then take Coach Campbell's suggestion and use his book on the subject. It is excellent and helps give you different schemes against various defenses. It is worth your while.
Coach besides Coach Campbell's book on the I package there is also The Assembly Line by Milt Tenopir, former offensive line coach at Nebraska, both are very helpful. Before switching to the shortgunveer we ran the I veer for many successful years.
I'd strongly recommend running a speed option out of the I. If you got a good tailback it's a good way to get him to the outside fast and feed him the ball. Plus the fullback has a chance to pick up backers that have escaped a lineman.
A great resource would be the Syracuse Offense under George Deleone when they had McNabb. They ran all of the option plays under center out of the I. They were also very successful with the freeze option. They did a series of tapes on the i option that may still be available. i have some of their older cutups on VHS.
One of the best resource you can use is Coach Campbell's books, they do a tremendous job of giving you choices and ideas on what you can install. We ran the I veer and had very good success, sometimes you can try to do too much and that is when the roadblocks go up. The most important thing to remember is what can your kids do.
My new manual combining the Pistol, Gun with the "I" back adds alot of flexability to an offense with each its onw strength and each complimenting the other. This manual is very informative and will be a great resource for you library. My manual can be found in my store located on the home page. If I can ever help please ask. Coach Campbell
I like the idea that you are combing the three schemes in your new book. Have been giving alot of thought to combining the gun, pistol and wing-t. From the gun we primarily run the same plays we did out of the I formation, QB seems to be able to read the veer easier.

The principles for installing the Gun and Pistol would marry in with the philosophy. You can continue to do what you do just do it from depth which the pistol and gun provide. Coach Campbell
Coach thanks for your thought , have you seen many teams running the Wing-T from the gun or pistol? I bought a video on just that and it really wasn't very good, it didn't cover the questions I had. Oh, well!
