Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
How do you like to attack a 4-4 cover 1 scheme? Assume one or both ILBs blitz on most downs. No corner over but OLBs are decent cover guys. ILB will walk out MOST of the way with #3 in trips so slant, slant, arrow etc. is one thing.

We had a lot of success this past season with the following out of 2 x 2:
Mirrored on both sides:
#1 - short "route d' jour" --> could be tunnel screen look, 5 yd square in, 3 step hitch
#2 - fade route from inside --> use the extra room wide to run away from the inside defender
QB - Read FS, or look him off to one side, throwing back to best matchup.
* The #1s should be great actors, running a good enough route to keep their defenders up. I guess, technically, that this is a smash concept. We just had a lot of success with it against press, because it can be thrown quicker than a corner route. Also, we put a fast receiver in the slot on the same side as our "#1" receiver (most well-known). When the star receiver ran short route, the CB jumped it, and the fast slot ran by the LB. The single safety was helpless because of the extra space the slot used to beat the OLB.
Don't get me wrong, it didn't always work, but our guys got pretty confident in running it.
