Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I was just let go at the school I have been at for the past 3 years. The reason for being let go was "Profane Language" (I was talking to a coach on the side line and used some off color language and the cheerleading coach over heard and turned me in). I have Coached the Offensive and Defensive line and was the Defensive Coordinator for 2 seasons. I basically developed the offense we ran also. The head coach and former AD will both write me letters of recomendation. The new AD said yesterday in our exit interveiw that she would write me a letter of rec. also but not until I have a specific place to apply. I am not a teacher and have some what of a checkered past. I would like to be an assistant at the high school level.
What materials should I gather for possible openings??? Should I take a playbook and program manual?? or is a resume just enough??? How can explain the situation I was just let go from???
I'd put together a binder with all that stuff in it along with a philosophy of coaching. Make sure that you get a copy of the letters of rec. It would make me a bit nervous when someone says they'll write me a letter of rec with conditions attached to it. I'm sure the AD is not trying to mess anything up, but I had a professor agree to write me a letter of rec for an application into a grad school program where she tried to rip me apart because I wrote her an email with no capital letters, and she thought that showed poorly on my professionalism. Luckily I stated in my grad school folder that I would reserve the right to view and remove any letters submitted to the folder, removed it and got another. Be very straightforward with people and answer any questions they ask about why you were let go, etc. Usually, the person you have to impress is the HC--so I'd make sure you make contact with them before you even put in any applications.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
Coach, if you are interviewing for an assistant coaching position, you need to accentuate the following to the prospective head coach:
1. LOYALTY TO THE HEAD COACH.
2. Tremendous accessibility (can be around all the time).
3. Professionalism- this you will have to prove to him the first year in which you are employed.
I hired eight assistant coaches this off-season and four of them did not have football coaching experience. They are LOYAL to me and they can be around all the time, and this is why they will all be returning next year.
