Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I've tried to diligently study your posts regarding your running game.
Noting you've summarized:
PS: We teach only TWO SCHEMES:
1. COUNTER/POWER (basically everybody is blocking "ON-INSIDE"), and,
2. ZONE BLOCKING (basically everybody is blocking "ON-OUTSIDE").
Do you run the counter/power series out of 11 personnel (1 back/1 TE/ 3 receivers) or is this limited to 12 personnel (having the 2nd TE, H Back, or FB)?
I've noticed in many online play books 'nickel' runs seem to be limited to zone(inside/outside) and draws.
Powers & Counters are also GREAT vs. "Nickle" with only 6 in the box (we get blockers where we NEED them thru use of MOTION)! If you need to discuss this in more detail that I have below - please feel free to PHONE me at 804-378-0116 (up to 10 PM/EDT).
Here is a guide we use in game planning. We use only TWO personnel groupings:
1. 2 TE/2 WR/1 RB
2. 1 TE/3 WR/1 RB
COUNTING DEFENDERS IN THE “BOX” FROM THE ONE BACK OFFENSE
THERE IS A MISCONCEPTION THAT WE ACTUALLY COUNT THE DEFENDERS IN THE “BOX”. FOLLOWING IS THE METHOD WHICH WE USE – WHICH HAS PROVEN TO HOLD UP:
A) 2 TE/2 WR/1 RB ALIGNMENT:
1. ONE SAFETY DEEP = 8 IN THE “BOX”.
2. TWO SAFETIES DEEP = 7 IN THE “BOX”.
B) 1 TE/3 WR/1 RB ALIGNMENT:
1. ONE SAFETY DEEP = 7 IN THE “BOX”.
2. TWO SAFETIES DEEP = 6 IN THE “BOX”.
