Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
What defensive alignment or philosophy have any of you found to be the best to neutralize speed (especially from the QB/TB position). 8 of the 10 teams we played were just plain faster than us this year. Has anyone been in this position? What works best?
We try to do everything we can do to bottle them up if we know we don't have a chance trying to run w/them. We won't spill and we'll try to contain as soon as possible. Spend lots of time in the offseason working on speed/agility. A lot of times you don't necessarily need to be FASTER, you just need to be QUICKER.
I agree. Work speed and agility drills a ton in the off season (speed camps can be great for the kids if you can find one/get one set up). Also, look at your team and find a way to maximize the speed you do have on the field. If you are finding that people are running around you, then look at the possibility of getting more men in the 2nd level--look into running some 3-3-5, 4-2-5, or 3-4, if you have the athletes to do it.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
