Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Scott,
I would go DBL TE DBL wing vs it. You're creating down block angles for your players, on sweeps and option. power sweep, lead option, dive option. Double down on the 5 with Y + Z...Z peels off onto $ and who is left? a corner. Their backers are so tight they can't flow over. If you'd like some wing-T or pistol ideas I have let me know.
Thanks. I think our HC is set on converting to the triple for next year. Any thoughts on how to attack it with option? I thought maybe lead on the corner with the FB, crack with the WR and run speed option.

The best answer is rocket toss out of the flexbone, Scott. The linebackers do not have the ability to pursue to the toss. You'll get the same answer from the Georgia Tech and Navy staff as I have asked coaches from both staffs.

Rocket Toss would work nice against this. We block everything down and pull a guard around because we do not teach reach blocking. Our back is to out run the playside A Gap defender. It's not traditional but this past season we saw alot of defenders stacking the box and we would just block everyone down and run a sweep with the fullback and backside guard leading around.
The next thing you have to work on is when the defensive backs rotate to the deep motion. Alot of teams will send one of there safeties on a blitze off the edge to stop the toss. Hense our team's guard around scheme doesn't work. If you got speed and your lineman can reach that would help against that stunt. Also some playactions look good off the toss.
We would run rocket or double option=block everyone down and pitch off $. Fb and Y could "switch block" putting FB on C and Y on F
