Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Was watching the Northwestern bowl game yesterday and they got the ball on there own one with momentum against them. I've seen this many of times and had it against my team as well and never thought much about it. We've either snuck it out, we're a double tight bone team, so just ran a regular option or power play, or thrown a pop pass. I think a roll out pass play would be good as long as it didn't end up like the Lions. Any favorite plays or things to do in those circumstances? I've seen alot of teams just pound it up the middle and be forced to punt without getting from the under the shadow of there goalpost.
I don't think there is any specific play that works for everyone. But, run any play that you consider a very safe play that you can be effective with. But be ready to chuck it deep if they stack everyone down inside.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
False cadence (bark out your normal cadence & don't snap the ball) might draw them offsides. Many defenses will "jump" in this area = a "gift" of 5 yds!
I like to max protect (with tight splits) and throw a fade. You should get one-on-one if they blitz. An INT is no worse than having to punt. In fact, an INT followed by a quick tackle by the WR may be better. It stinks trying to punt out of your own endzone for many reasons. Obviously, if it is complete or you get a P.I. call you are out of the hole.
Quick kick should be considered on 3rd down too.

Mountjoy's idea is a good one used it a few times. Best play for us this year was play action pass deep. Scored four times this year when backed up using this one.

We dont lose any games we just run out of time.

When you guys playaction out of your endzone how many receivers do ya send deep. Does it depend on personnel? They may have 1 good cover guy but not 2. Is a dump off back necessary or should a quarterback just hang it out of bounce?
