I'm curious who uses a corner over philosophy out of their even front defense and who doesn't. Why or why not? Also do you think it would be feasible to play corner over against one look (ie 2 backs) and not versus another (1 back)?
That's what I want to do vs 2 backs, I want to play an under front and bring the corner over. However against 1 back sets I think it becomes more complicated from a coverage standpoint if you play corner over so I would rather bump the coverage and slide into more of a 4-3 look where Corner has #1, OLB has #2, and ILB has #3. I'm curious who else has this philosophy and any pointers they may have for teaching it successfully.
It doesn't seem too complicated to me to say we play corner over vs. 2 backs and bump coverage vs. 1 back, but then again it never seems too complicated to coaches.
By the way Oneback I also think we need to play ODP vs. 3 backs, you've completely convinced me.
i typically don't bring the corner over. i keep my cb's on their respect side and they always have #1 no matter who it is. but like oneback says the key is the matchup.
