Does anyone have a cheat sheet for QB's that will teach when your receivers run this route you should use this drop? I am learning to play QB in an emergency and woudl like to undertsand this better should I ever have to step in. Thanks for your help.
In general, the deeper the route, the deeper the drop. I don't know if you are using any 7 step drops--those are for more complex systems. Most high school-type systems are based on 3 step and 5 step drops. My QB's take three step drops on slants, stops, quick outs, and quick fades (timing routes). 5 step drops are usually for the routes where there are more reads--posts, crossing routes, deeper curls, etc. Your WR steps should match the steps needed for the WR's before they make their breaks.
