I'm looking for information on the Fly offense. The two "gurus" of the fly are Mark Speckman at Willamette and Coach Hamilton in Foothills, CA, but I am wondering if anyone out there either runs the fly offense (either under center or out of the gun) or knows people who do at the HS level. I'd like to get in contact with as many people as I can to get a good feel for the blocking schemes that people are using, play packaging, personnel, drills, etc. Thanks in advance.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
Go on ABEBOOKS.COM & order the book "Fly-T FOOTBALL" by it's INVENTOR - Hamp Pool - former head coach of the old L.A. Rams! they have 5-6 copies available.
Thanks, Coach Mountjoy. I found the book, and may have to buy it. I did some digging on the fly T, and found that Coach Ted Seay's "Wildbunch" set uses quite a bit of the fly T and fly sweep mentality. It is very similar to the shotgun zone fly that Byron Hamilton uses.

A few years back - a HS Coach in Virginia (Bill Merner of Hopewell HS) put the Fly-T in from THAT book & won 36 games in a row (& 3 State Championships). He is now deceased, but you NEED to see that book if you want to "FLY".
I'll take a look at it. I recently got the DVD series of Coach Speckman's fly. I am amazed how simple it is, and how forgiving it is. It seems it should be so unbelievable technical, but it is really not.

Possibly. The fly sweep/jet sweep has been a big play for double-wing and wing-t teams for years. Mark Speckman at Willamette University put that play into a system--his basic philosophy is all about attacking D-gap because it is the largest area to defend, and it gives his players an advantage as they are one-on-one in space. Another coach in California put this system into a shotgun package--he calls the Shotgun Zone Fly. You can find stuff on it from American Football Monthly. I'm starting to get the big picture of this offense. and it is raising my eyebrows a bit. It might be on of the best equalizer offenses I've come across.
